Young Fashion Entrepreneur? Design Site Launches Summer Program for Teens

CINCINNATI – Define My Style, an online community that allows teens ages 13 to 19 to design, share and buy each others’ products, is launching a free Summer of Style program under the leadership of New York fashion stylist Marissa Rizzuto.

Summer of Style is a Web-based program that allows creative teens to explore the fashion industry through webinars and conference calls in teams of three to five friends over a five-week period beginning July 11 and ending Aug. 8.

Each week, teams will learn about different aspects of the fashion industry, from designing clothes to writing a magazine editorial. Teams will then present weekly projects and receive feedback from fashion industry professionals.
“Our goal is to encourage curious, ambitious teens to explore the world of fashion and gain insight into career opportunities that fit their abilities,” says Kristine Sturgeon, founder and CEO of Define My Style.

“The program will bring the fashion environment within reach of teens and encourage them to explore what interests them. Participants will come out of the program more confident, with ambition, career goals and a strong sense of direction.”

Marissa Rizzuto, a top fashion expert who blogs for Tyra Banks’ website, provides styling tips for various fashion publications, is CEO of Fashion Boot Camp 101 and has created custom jewelry for celebrities including Fergie, will lead each week’s session. Girls will have the opportunity to draw on her years of experience in creating products and workshops for teens hoping to pursue a career in fashion.

Applications for the Summer of Style program are live on www.definemystyle.com/summerstyle, and will remain open until July 8. The only requirement for registration is that girls must sign up for a free Define My Style membership to participate.
